DR. BEATE LINDEMANN AWARDED GERMANY‘S FEDERAL CROSS OF MERIT FIRST CLASS Beate Lindemann and Klaus Wowereit, the Governing Mayor of Berlin On October 9, 2005, Dr. Beate Lindemann, Executive Vice-Chairman of the Atlantic-Brücke e.V., received Germany‘s Federal Cross of Merit First Class, for her outstanding service of improving the German-American Partnership. Klaus Wowereit, the Governing Mayor of Berlin, presented Dr. Lindemann with the medal, which highlights, among other things, Dr. Lindemann‘s work in establishing an exchange program in 1990. This program has made it possible for more than 3,600 East German high school students and more than 1,100 American minority high school students to study one year abroad in the United States and Germany respectively.
