The XXXII German-American Young Leaders Conference took place in Hamburg-Blankenese from August 22 to 27, 2010. The theme of the conference was “Transatlantic Cooperation in an Age of Complexity and Uncertainty.” Over 60 German and American promising young professionals met to discuss solutions to current global challenges. Participants were able to delve even deeper into matters in conversation with featured guest speakers from Germany’s economic, political and military sectors.
X European Young Leaders Conference in Pristina
From June 13 to 17, 2010, the X European Young Leaders Conference was held in Pristina, Kosovo. Over 50 participants from 26 European countries and the United States discussed the topic “The EU and its Institutions and Members: Are they fit to deal with the aftermath of the world’s financial crisis and the challenges of the war in Afghanistan?” The conference participants, coming from the fields of politics, business, and media, also had the opportunity to hear speeches from a number of Kosovar politicians, who explained the situation in Kosovo today.
2010 Investment Bridge USA: Sixth Study Trip to China
From May 14 to May 28, 2010, a high level Atlantik-Brücke delegation travelled to China.
On March 11, 2010, Atlantik-Brücke held a discussion with former Chancellor Helmut Schmidt and current Defense Minister Dr. Karl-Theodor Freiherr zu Guttenberg on the topic ”The Bundeswehr’s Mission: The Hot Spot of Afghanistan.” The discussion, held at Helmut-Schmidt-University/University of the Bundeswehr Hamburg, was moderated by Atlantik-Brücke chairman Friedrich Merz.

“The Mumbai Declaration”
One hundred days following the tragic terrorist attacks in Mumbai, the International Advisory Council (IAC) of Atlantik-Brücke demonstrated its solidarity with India and underscored the crucial global mission of the transatlantic community by holding its inaugural session at the Taj Mahal Hotel, where 32 of the incidents’ 170 victims were killed. The IAC honored those whose lives were lost and India’s future through a “Mumbai Declaration,” which urges the Atlantic Community at a time of spreading financial crisis to recommit itself through concrete actions to fighting global poverty, maintaining open markets, resisting protectionism, and otherwise protecting the remarkable gains of globalization that followed the Berlin Wall’s fall nearly twenty years ago. more
