GERMAN-AMERICAN CONFERENCES The Biennial German-American Conferences represent one of Atlantik-Brücke’s oldest activities. Since 1959, these conferences have been held (until 2003 in cooperation with the American Council on Germany) alternately in Germany and America. Through this program, over 100 leaders come together every other year for a three-day dialogue on current bilaterally and internationally important issues. As demonstrated by the lists of speakers and participants over the years, nearly every important leader of German politics, business, academia, and the media has participated in these conferences. The American delegations have been equally prominent and influential. In order to better integrate leaders from the American South and West Coast into its programs, Atlantik-Brücke initiated annual conference programs with the Southern Center for International Studies (Atlanta, GA) in 1995 and with the Pacific Council on International Policy (Los Angeles, CA) in 2005. These projects provide representatives from business, politics, academia, and the media in these parts of the country with the chance to engage in bilateral dialogue with high-ranking German delegations. In addition, German-American conferences held every other year in cooperation with the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars (Washington, DC) continue to be a vital component of Atlantik-Brücke’s conference series.
