VERNON A. WALTERS AWARD In 1993, Atlantik-Brücke and Armonk Institute (New York) founded the Vernon A. Walters Prize, which is awarded annually to a German or American for outstanding contribution to German-American relations. All of the proceeds of the fund-raising Gala in New York go to the annual two-week study trips for American Social Studies teachers who cover material about the Holocaust. Since the dissolution of the Armonk Institute, Atlantik-Brücke has continued the Social Studies Teachers Program without a partner institution. Vernon A.
