“Is the EU still important to Ukraine?”

In this month’s edition of Atlantik-Brücke’s web series Better be Prepared, titled “The Ukraine Negotiations”, we spoke with distinguished speakers from the United States and Germany about the evolving dynamics introduced by President Donald Trump in the negotiations for a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine-Russia war.

Our speakers– Melinda Haring, Senior Advisor at Razom for Ukraine and Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council, Dr. Tobias Lindner, former Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office; and Angela Stent, Professor Emerita and Senior Advisor at the Center for Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies at Georgetown University — tackled pressing questions such as: What could a peaceful settlement look like? And can we clarify the often ambiguous position of the U.S. administration in this process? The discussion was moderated by Mareike Müller, Foreign Correspondent for Ukraine, Russia, Eastern Europe, Handelsblatt. One of the key takeaways was that much will depend on the willingness of both the United States and the European Union to increase political pressure on Russia — not only through enhanced sanctions, but also by stepping up military support if the Kremlin fails to pursue a genuine ceasefire.
