„We can’t compensate the gap left by USAID“
We are delighted to have won Reem Alabali Radovan, Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, as a speaker for the Female Network’s last event before the summer break. Under the overarching theme of “Stress Test for Parliamentarianism,” our participants, moderated by Anna Sauerbrey, Foreign Policy Coordinator at ZEIT, discussed with the Federal Minister the crumbling of the “firewall” against Germany’s far right, structural barriers for women in politics, and the need for social engagement.
Afterwards, Reem Alabali Radovan gave us insights into her work and the effects of the US withdrawal from development aid in a short interview.
Reem Alabali Radovan is a political scientist and, since 2021, an member of the German Bundestag for the social democrats (SPD). Prior to her appointment as Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development in May 2025, she was the Federal Government Commissioner for Migration, Refugees, and Integration.
