Virtual Discussion

After four years of increasingly strained relations, there now seems to be hope for a fresh start in the transatlantic partnership. Even though a return to the status quo ante may be impossible, Biden’s presidency paves the way for a more collaborative spirit between Europe and the U.S. and allows us to find answers to the pressing questions of our time together.

We are looking forward to discussing the future of European-American relations with our guest Julius van de Laar. Van de Laar is a campaign- and strategy consultant with years of experience in international races. During the 2012 U.S.-presidential election, he was Obama’s Regional GOTV Director for voter mobilization in the decisive state of Ohio. Previously van de Laar served as a full-time campaigner for Barack Obama in 2007 and 2008. After Obama’s win, van de Laar used his expertise to advise candidates in the German parliamentary elections in 2009 and 2013 and in European elections. Today, he is a consultant for political organizations, NGOs, and companies and advises them on how to develop and implement successful campaigns.
