German-Canadian Conference

German-Canadian Conference

Sunday, May 12, 2024 - Tuesday, May 14, 2024
12.00 am

Berlin

Building on more than 35 years of constructive German-Canadian exchange, this year’s conference will again gather a high-level group of Germans and Canadians to discuss current challenges and opportunities for cooperation in various policy fields based on shared interests and values.

The conference kicks off in the afternoon of Sunday, May 12 with a cultural activity in Berlin, followed by an opening reception at the Residence of the Canadian Ambassador. On Monday, May 13, the Canadian Embassy opens its doors to welcome our guests and speakers for an all-day conference. Topics discussed will include the threat of growing right-wing activism to democracy in both countries, German-Canadian efforts towards a net-zero future, and the challenges to compete as industry and investment hubs amid an evolving global economy. In addition, we want to explore how the rise of AI amplifies foreign election interference and how Canada and Germany can adapt to new geopolitical realities. Following the panel discussions, participants are invited to join our dinner reception at Internationaler Club at the Federal Foreign Office in the evening. On Tuesday, May 14, the conference will conclude at noon after a site visit to one of our Berlin-based corporate members.

The conference will be chaired by Sigmar Gabriel and Nik Nanos, Chairman, Atlantik-Brücke Canada.

This event is for members of Atlantik-Brücke.
