Lessons for the West: What We Should Learn from Current Crises

Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the looming escalation in the Middle East, and the increasingly apparent systemic rivalry with China: The world order is being restructured, and the West is on the defensive. The optimism that followed the fall of the Iron Curtain is a relic of the past. Instead of democracy and free markets taking a victory lap, authoritarianism seems to be on the rise. And even the West itself has lost confidence in its strength.

Professor Peter R. Neumann, author of the 2022 published book The New World Disorder: How the West is Destroying Itself, will join us for a dinner discussion and analyze the current crises in the broader geopolitical picture: What mistakes has the West made? What are the lessons to be learned? And what needs to be done now? Following an opening statement by our speaker, we will have the opportunity to discuss his hypotheses.

Dinner will be served for attendees of the discussion. Please inform us of any dietary requirements you may have. In the event of no-shows or same-day cancellations, we reserve the right to charge for any costs incurred.

This event is for members and Young Leaders Alumni of Atlantik-Brücke.
