Video-Call

with Lord Mandelson, Chairman and Co-Founder, Global Counsel; Former UK First Secretary of State; Former European Commissioner for Trade

The Corona Pandemic marks the end of the latest wave of globalisation. As it lays bare the political tensions between the US, China and Europe, the voices that call for economic decoupling are amplifying. Critical industries such as pharma are likely to experience a shift towards more domestic production, while important innovations, such as 5G, are on track to result in competing technologies. The question seems to be not if decoupling will take place, but how far it will go.

We look forward to an interesting discussion on possible scenarios as well as possible consequences for the transatlantic relationship.

Peter Mandelson is known to have been one of the architects of “New Labour” and served in various cabinet positions in the Blair and Brown cabinets, most recently as Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills from 2008 until 2010. Previously, he was European Commissioner for Trade from 2004 until 2008.

This event is for members and Young Leaders Alumni of Atlantik-Brücke.
