At the Frankfurt Luncheon “The Zeitenwende and the World (Dis)Order: The End of the Liberal Illusion?”, hosted by the Regional Chapter Frankfurt/Hesse  on August 21, 2026, we discussed the emerging world (dis)order and its implications for Germany and Europe with Prof. Dr. Peter Neumann, Director of the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation and Political Violence at King’s College London.

Following the event, we spoke with Prof. Neumann in a video interview about the growing use of hybrid tactics and when a hybrid threat becomes a military attack. We also discussed the diverging interests of China, Russia, and Iran and how the West can leverage these differences strategically. With regard to transatlantic relations, Prof. Neumann shared his views on how Europe should respond if U.S. security guarantees become a bargaining chip.
