In times of a global pandemic, how narrowly is national interest defined? How much help can and should we provide for others? And, ultimately, how important is a moral compass for policy makers?

Professor Joseph Nye, University Distinguished Service Professor emeritus and former Dean of the Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and author of the book “Do Morals Matter?” discusses these questions in conversation with Sigmar Gabriel, Chairman of Atlantik-Brücke, in this video conference. Both draw on their extensive experience in politics. Professor Nye has served as U.S. Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs, Chair of the National Intelligence Council, and Deputy Under Secretary of State for Security Assistance, Science and Technology. Sigmar Gabriel served as German Vice-Chancellor and as Federal Minister.

The talk is moderated by Dr. David Deißner, Atlantik-Brücke’s Executive Director.
