Diese Veranstaltung richtet sich ausschließlich an Mitglieder der Atlantik-Brücke.
Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, European states have significantly increased their defense spending to strengthen their military capabilities and deter Russian aggression against NATO territory. Yet Russia’s intensifying hybrid warfare activities against European states, as illustrated by recent attempted drone attacks at Leipzig Airport and in Lithuania, are putting NATO’s ability to respond to such threats to the test. Against the backdrop of increased military spending, the question is no longer simply how much Europe spends, but whether it is building the right capabilities to counter ongoing Russian hybrid warfare and establish credible deterrence to prevent further aggression.
We wish to discuss with our distinguished panelists, Christian Badia, General (ret.), Wolfgang Gammel, Managing Director at Helsing, and Dr. Laurynas Kasčiūnas, former Minister of Defense of Lithuania and leader of the opposition in the Lithuanian parliament, how to strike the right balance between conventional military capabilities and emerging requirements such as air and drone defense, cyber resilience, and the protection of critical infrastructure. From the perspective of Europe’s eastern flank, we will explore what the recent experiences of Lithuania and other exposed NATO members reveal about the changing nature of deterrence and collective defense.
Before the panel discussion, starting at 6:00 pm, participants will have the opportunity to explore and connect with several companies and start-ups from the defense sector during an exhibition at the event venue, the Munich Defense Hub.
We would like to thank FidCap for the hospitality and great cooperation.
