The Transatlantic Digital Economy

Europe’s growing push for greater digital sovereignty is reshaping the transatlantic landscape for AI and cloud infrastructure amid intensifying global competition with China. At the same time, rapid advances in these technologies are making technological leadership an increasingly strategic priority on both sides of the Atlantic. Yet Europe continues to lag behind the US and China in several critical areas, particularly AI investment, computing infrastructure and the ability to scale digital technologies.

Together with Brian Huseman, Vice President of Public Policy and Community Engagement at Amazon, we would like to explore how the EU’s ambition for technological sovereignty can be balanced with the need for deeper transatlantic cooperation to maintain competitiveness in key innovation areas. How can Europe and the US work together to strengthen their collective technological edge?
